A Course in Conversational Malay with Equivalent Indonesian Vocabulary

Developed over a 12 year period of actual classroom use this course is suitable for both academic or individual in home study. Based on the conversational language of Malaysia this will prove useful to people studying, traveling or doing business in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. Equivalent Indonesian vocabulary is given where this differs from the Malay. 25 lessons with a set of short presentation dialogues, a section on sentence structure, notes on language use and grammar, and detailed exercises. Each exercise is set in conversational context and drills the structures and vocabulary introduced in the current and preceding dialogues. Also includes a detailed introduction describing the format and use of the elssons, a section describing the sound system of Malay and three glossaries comprising various word lists from Malay to English and English to Malay.
