Description
В семье помещика Юго-западного края родился слепой ребенок. Трудно передать горе матери и близких. Обостренная чувствительность к звукам и необычный музыкальный слух заставляют родственников беспокоиться за судьбу слепого. Взрослея, он все больше задается вопросом – зачем он живет на свете? Несмотря на то, что он встретил свою любовь, был окружен заботой и вниманием, его постоянно охватывают мрачные чувства безысходности и ненужности. Брат матери, дядя Максим, бывший Гарибальдиец потерявший ногу на полях сражений, видит опасность в излишней опеке ребенка. Он прилагает весь свой педагогический талант для того, чтобы мальчик не испытывал чувство неполноценности, и вселяет в него уверенность в возможность духовного прозрения. Огромный зал, восторгающийся игрой незрячего пианиста, явился торжеством оптимизма.
