Прогрессист и просветитель в глазах одних – и махровый реакционер для других. Государственник, всеми силами пытавшийся предотвратить «великие потрясения», но так и не сумевший этого сделать. Вспоминая отца, старшая его дочь Мария фон Бок (1886–1985) перемежает лиричные семейные истории тревожными и горькими рассказами о судьбе страны, вступавшей в один из самых драматичных периодов своего бытия. Книга также издавалась под названием "Петр Аркадьевич Столыпин. Воспоминания о моем отце. 1884-1911".
