Александр Стесин - русский поэт, живущий в Нью-Йорке. Врач-онколог по профессии, он сменил много мест обитания, публиковался в российских и зарубежных журналах (`Иностранная литература`, `Новый мир`, `Знамя`, `Октябрь`, `Звезда`, `Интерпоэзия`, `Новый журнал`, `Сноб` и др.), выпустил три книги стихов. Несколько лет назад по собственному желанию Стесин отправился работать единственным врачом в деревню в Гане. Об этом большом африканском путешествии - от подготовки до последствий - рассказывают две повести, включенные в книгу `Вернись и возьми`. Современный врач в Гане попадает в условия, сходные с теми, что сто лет назад вдохновили Булгакова на `Записки юного врача`, - и справляется с трудностями, не теряя чувства юмора, рассудительности и таланта.
