When To Use Drink Before You're Thirsty. For endurance exercise lasting longer than 60 minutes, it's important to replace fluids, electrolytes & calories if you want to avoid the effects of dehydration & fatigue. Start with your reserves full & drink little and often right from the start of your workout. Aim to take 2-3 good sized gulps from your bottle every 10-15 minutes.
