The Tomb Raider series has always portrayed the strong confident woman who fights against all odds to find artifacts and bring them back to civilization. The latest in the offering serves as an effective prequel to the story of Lara Croft. The game takes a look at how the young frightened young woman transformed into the strong willed survivor that Lara Croft is later known to be. The game has been developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. Since this game arrives as the first entry in the Tomb Raider continuity, showcasing a time before Lara becomes the hardened Archeologist, it does not provide any correlation to the previous entries in the series. In fact, this title will serve as a reboot to the whole franchise. Tomb Raider is a single player game with a deep rooted storyline. The game delves deep into the personality of Lara, at a time before she transformed into the strong woman. The intense origin to Lara Croft is thoroughly explored in Tomb Raider with the gritty ascent from a timid and frightened young woman, to a survivor who sets out to carve a niche for herself. The story commences with Lara on a ship called The Endurance which is commanded by Conrad Roth. They come across a violent storm that results in the ship being split into two. Once the storm has abated, she finds herself stranded on an isolated island in a place known only as the Dragon's Triangle. With necessity comes the will to forage for food and water, and this makes Lara set out to look for just these things, along with the desire to find and seek out other survivors. She has to face the perils of fighting off wildlife and other dangers when she ventures out alone. She also faces a darker, unknown threat as she finds herself harden against killing people in self defense. A group of Malevolent Mercenaries are out to kill the survivors and her along with them, and she must fight back to protect everyone. The game is yet to be rated by the ESRB, with PEGI also likely to go with an 18 and above rating. Lara is the main protagonist of the game Tomb Raider and has a very different personality from what has already been established in the previous games. This is mainly because the New Tomb Raider is essentially a reboot of the series and also, it showcases events preceding to her transforming into the hardened archeologist and adventurer that is the norm. In this game, Lara is just twenty one years old and has graduated from college. She struggles to find her place in the world which leads her to embark on a journey of self discovery. She takes a ship and sails out to get away from civilization. Unfortunately for her, the ship gets caught in a storm and ultimately sinks with many still onboard. Some of the passengers including Lara have managed to survive and land up on an island seethed in mystery. The environment is your armory with materials available throughout to fashion your own weapons from. The levels are designed in such a way that it features open world landscape throughout. This makes exploring a necessity and a deed that will lead you to food supplies weapons or a decent resting place for the night. The campaign is a well designed action game that makes you feel very much like the young inexperienced Lara learning all the tricks to survive. Captain Conrad Roth is her mentor and guide, advising her through the radio as she heads out to explore. Turn Lara into a full grown fighting expert with her time spent on the island and accomplish your goals with ease.
