In 1869, a Christian philanthropist published a highly controversial book in which he defended polygamy. This is a new printing of that original book. The pages appear as in the original except that I have used a graphic editor to remove the occasional ink smudge and to clarify the text. In fact, since the writing of this book, the monogamous culture of the United States has decayed to the point that 40 percent of births are now out of wedlock and there are over one million abortions each year, over 90 percent of them performed on women who claim to be christians and monogamists.
