In the United States one of the lesser known sources of obsidian is Glass Buttes in eastern Oregon. For several years late in the twentieth century and early in the twenty first century, an annual Workshop for flint and obsidian knappers of all skills from all over North America was hosted on the high slopes of Glass Buttes. This book shows you an up close and personal look at the activities involved in quarrying obsidian and making stone age tools in the Space Age.
