This intermediate-level reader is the first in a two-book set organized by thematic units that emphasizes students' roles in the learning process. Book 1 consists of narratives on personal themes such as People in Our Lives, Meeting That Special Someone, Education and Employment, and Being a Wise Consumer in the United States. Each section in the book increases in difficulty to steadily challenge students.
