'I was in Kanpur during that period, & I've never been to Ranchi,' rebuts Bipin brusquely, brushing past the intrusive man. Yet, two friends reaffirm the '95 Ranchi Vacation. Dinesh & the unemployed Chuni. Terrified that he is developing his brother's streak of lunacy, Bipin visits Ranchi to ragain his memory, Instead, he returns defeated & convinced of a mental disorder. Out of the blue, the resourceless Chuni arrives with a miraculous antidote, puzzling Bipin more than his mystery novels. CLASS FRIEND The telephone rings as Mohit dresses up for office. A chool chum, Joydeb, is calling after 25 years. He sound urgent & wishes to see Mohit' for a few minutes'. Mohit asks him over that evening. Joy arrives. Ratanlal also talks of 'Bishu-Shibu', the comedy team of the silent days. 'Bishnu was me, But you have to track Sarat Kundu, alias Shibu, down. I want to know where he is, how he is && what he is doing - & whether he is still alive. 'The search for Shibu, leads Tarini, the secretary, to a journalist, Naresh Sanyal. 'I can give you some information on Sarat Kundu,' says Naresh, 'but in return, I want you to persuade Mr. Rakshit to give me an interview. I was after him, but he turned me down.' Tarini agrees to Naresh's request. "I interviewed Sarat Kundu four year ago in his shack in the bustee at Goabagan. He was almost starving then. 'But Tarini's trip to Goabagan proves futile. Sarat Kundu had left the the place three years ago. Naresh comes to interview Ratanlal. Ratanlal calls out to his bearer for some coffee. Naresh has one look at him, & his mouth falls open. "Is he-is he your servant? Naresh stammers in asonishment. 'Lakshmi-kanto is my bearer & projectionist.' says Ratanlal. 'But-but- he is Sarat Kundu-the Shibu of 'Bishu-Shibu'.
