   Description
This is the second in the series of texts that I take to be excellent introductions to anthroposophy. (The first is The Essential Philosophy of Freedom [Keryx, 2017].) I have cut it down to approximately half the original length; those wishing to proceed to the full version will find it as the introduction to CW 104; The Apocalypse of St. John (Great Barrington, MA: SteinerBooks, 1993). Here we find an elegant summary of at least six complicated anthroposophical themes: the relationship of anthroposophy to religion, the evolution of consciousness, mythology, biological evolution, the path of initiation, and, above all, the meaning of the Incarnation. In many places Steiner employs vivid analogies, for example that of experiencing Euclidean geometry philologically rather than directly experiencing its spirit. I hope that you will enjoy this excerpt, and want to hear or read more.
