Today, most of the ESL (English as a Second Language) learners are not exposed to IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) at school. Though it is imperative, only very few stress the importance of the IPA. It is a universal verity that intelligible pronunciation of words is requisite for feasible communication. But majority of the ESL learners are taught to pronounce words as per the spelling which leads to mispronunciation and miscommunication.
